the bitches of vegas

drive-by readings

Zatanna #4 (DC)
"Playing With Fire"
Paul Dini
Chad Hardin
Wayne Faucher
Pat Brosseau
John Kalisz/Lovern Kindzierski
Stephane Roux (cover)
Brian Bolland (variant cover)

what we learned: Zee, aside from being a Vegas showgirl, has to do part-time asskicking of troublemakers like the Royal Flush Gang (these mooks have no other M.O. except rob casinos? why not hit the Indian ones? there are no superheroes there!). problem is her current (flirty) employer looks like a dealmaker with the devil Mammon, and looks younger than he really is. Mammon meanwhile, is in the habit of employing red-hot witches masquerading as 90-year old bitches.
oh shit moment: its 2010 and Zatanna still has no defense against mouth attacks, and she can't make a spell without talking?
what's next: Zee needs a healing factor. pronto.

i've burned my tongue before but this is ridiculous.

snaps: Titans #20

... where am not sure why i read #21 first before this. this is certainly interesting. Donna Troy moves to Miami, and doesn't bring me along. even worse, she finds a handsome bartender to spend time with in-between Amazonian bitching and whining in the Titans tower.

i just hope they're not about bestiality.

clearly, this is the owner of those DVDs.

"LIMUX"? what the-!? what are the rules for product placement and fake product placement?

what's lamer than "Frightful Four"?

Hercules: "Woolly! And you say ..."

and the moral lesson here is: never interrupt Donna while she's eating.

snaps: Titans #21

... where the Titans are at a crossroads, with teammates down or sidetracked or unsure where they're going. that's pretty much it. since there's a cliffhanger, most likely there is a Titans #22.

by "psychopath", she means James Robinson.

wow, you're a model for positive thinking, Donna. you know who i heard that from? the Midnighter.

you mean they were brother and sister? and they did it?? get out!!!

again, let us not read too much into this dialogue ...

is she shocked after looking at a mirror and realizing how skimpy her costume is?

tipping points

with a is-he-a-murderer-or-not Jericho inside Nightwing, the latter has to make a decision when the JLA comes a-calling ... and of course, 'Wing's gonna say:

of course, we like to cheer heroes beating up on each other.

speaking of beating, Frank Castle's heart is still cool as a cucumber although Molly Von Richtofen's heart is probably doing calisthenics, and not because she spotted a hottie.

we all await the final chapter where we bury Elite and this Ma Gnucci nonsense once and for all (heh! snort!)
