what we learned: its too much to put in one issue, but anyway, Daredevil apparently "wants" Moon Knight (who's just minding his own business; its Daredevil's fault he didn't accept Avengers membership), so he puts into motion an alleged acolyte of Konshu to recruit another psycho to be the god's avatar. bad news for Jake/Steve/whoever he is this week, because he has to face this challenge but at the same time consider that Marlene is pregnant and they're engaged.
oh shit moment: did i just say he has to protect his back?
what's next: crazy versus crazy. i'll bet on crazier.

The Rage of Thor (one shot) (Marvel) "The Rage of Thor" Peter Milligan Mico Suayan Matt Milla Joe Sabino

what we learned: Mico Suayan gets his shot at a companion piece to Thor #7-8 (drawn by The Awesomeness, Marko Djurdjevic). Thor, abandoning Asgard because of a frame-up (Loki, is that your hand in it?), lives as a warrior/farmer in Midgard but is forced to return to battle Surtur because of injuries to his dad Odin. eventually Thor has to temper his rage for being accused in the first place and grit his teeth at the normal Asgardian way of life - the three W's (warring, wining and wenching).
oh shit moment: Thor, despite his goody-two-shoes image, probably bedded a lot of women before Jane Foster. duh.
what's next: since the successful Straczynski reboot of 2007, i love the idea of Thor one-shots, and this should continue even if ever the main title gets cancelled (i said "if ever").

what we learned: i'm still a little doozy. so bad Deathloks from future go back to the past to kill a number of people, one of which is Miranda Bayer, who's part of the future resistance. she's also their agent in the present, and in holding one child hostage (said child set to grow up to be the same Deathlok about to kill her), she brings about the conversion of the Deathlok to find its own humanity. it certainly is ambitious as it gets, but somewhere along the way to this ending, we all got our heads slapped upside down.
oh shit moment: the head of the future resistance - is the same Deathlok who got humanized.
what's next: Kurt lives! no, not Cobain.

... where we celebrate Jen Walters' 30th anniversary with three tales, notably from greenskin powerhouse writer Peter David, plus a reprint from the John Byrne days, but surprisingly none from Dan Slott. however, i enjoyed Brian Reed's contribution, set in pre-Secret Invasion days, where there's a titanic team up, with the now-we-know-she's-the-Skrull-Queen Spider Woman.

wasn't it just recently that Deadpool had a new series? now we get a new one? looks like a marketing push to capitalize on the residue hype from X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the announced solo 2011 Deadpool movie. crime novelist Victor Gischler takes on the reins, and he does a passable impression of the broken Fourth Wall comedy that the character is noted for. this time we find 'Pool being hired by A.I.M. to retrieve a valuable object from the Savage Land and beat Hydra to it. of course, that means a Ka-Zar sighting. and some tribes. and eventually dinosaurs. the cover already tells you what that object is (nice Heisman trophy pose). i am ambivalent about Dark Horse veteran Bong Dazo's art - on one hand, he seems to have a wide variety of styles. on the other hand - he has a wide variety of styles. hope this gets consistent in the long run. i still feel 'Pool is getting too much ink and paper, while other topnotch books like Captain Britain & MI:13 and Nova/Guardians of the Galaxy are getting canceled or threatened to be canceled.
