apocalypse soon

the following posters have found their way to the funnybooks this month. i gather they're all related to DC's upcoming crossover event, Final Crisis (quick question: when did DC have a significant and interesting crossover not named 'Crisis' or segueing into a 'Crisis'?).

i assume those are Darkseid's eyes. there seems to be no other villain worth their salt with staying power (Mongul? Sinestro? Superboy Prime? ehhhhh ...).

listen, here's a thought: instead of conning us fans with the taglines (when we know the do-gooders will save the day anyway), why not say what you mean. when Darkseid wins, change the whole focus of the DC universe to one that's controlled by the bad guys for a full year. the resistance (of course there will be) will be building up and the fight for freedom will happen in Summer 2009. full 12 months of evil stomping on Superman, Batman and the common man. do you have the guts to do that, Dan DiDio?

"insurrection" - an act of open revolt against civil authority or established government. the dude above seems to be either Gog or Magog. anyway, one of the Gogs. and he seems to be the leader of an insurrection. against whom? is he with Darkseid? or is he rebelling against Darkseid? i wonder what they see with this insignificant little planet full of idiots and dilettantes, corrupt civil servants and useless douchebags. i'm sure even Batman would agree slightly on that one.

yes, i have a few. does this mean all the current Titans will be, shall we say ... whacked? did somebody feel lonely (yes, i'm talking to you, Beast Boy) and whined that they needed a reunion? if Nightwing is taking back the reins of Titan leadership, does that mean Robin (Tim Drake) will be replacing ...

... because he's dead?

nah, can't be dead?

for real?

you kidding me?

what happens to The Dark Knight Returns?

seriously.

c'mon.

'sides, Robin's just a kid.

hey, Joker died, not Batman ....

anyone?
